WEG Visits Workersbee: Strengthening Global EV Charging Collaboration Through Technology

May 16, 2025

On May 5th, 2025, Workersbee was pleased to welcome a delegation from WEG, one of Brazil’s most respected industrial technology companies, for an in-depth factory tour and technical exchange. The visit reinforced both companies’ shared commitment to advancing electric mobility, particularly in the field of DC charging technologies.

As a global leader in motors, automation, and energy systems, WEG has built its reputation on vertical integration, innovation, and a deep understanding of regional needs. With operations in over 120 countries and more than 47,000 employees worldwide, WEG continues to push the frontiers of electrification—especially in fast-growing EV markets like Brazil.

A Closer Look at Advanced Cable Manufacturing

During their visit to Workersbee's factory, the WEG team explored our DC charging cable production line, which is equipped to support both GB/T and international standards. One area that sparked particular interest was our new-generation cable solution, developed specifically in response to market demands for higher efficiency and better cost-performance balance.

Instead of relying solely on traditional thick-conductor designs to reduce heat, Workersbee has introduced a thinner cable design engineered with advanced conductor material optimization and precision insulation control. These cables not only reduce material usage and improve flexibility, but also maintain superior thermal performance under high current loads — a result of two key innovations:

Ultrasonic Welding at the Connector Terminal:

The head-end terminals of our cables are assembled using ultrasonic welding, a process that creates a solid-state bond between conductors and contact interfaces. Compared to conventional crimping, ultrasonic welding offers:

Lower contact resistance

Improved vibration tolerance

Consistent joint integrity across large batches

This ensures both electrical reliability and mechanical durability — critical for public DC charging environments.

Optimized Heat Dissipation Performance:

Our new cable design leverages tightly controlled conductor geometry and multi-layer insulation with specific heat-transfer properties. Internal lab testing shows that even under 200A to 250A current loads, the temperature rise is lower than that of older, thicker cable models. This makes the new cable ideal for high-frequency, urban-use charging stations where compactness and performance are both essential.

Understanding Regional Market Needs

Throughout the discussion, WEG shared valuable insights into the Brazilian EV market, including how recent price-driven competition has reshaped procurement decisions. The rise of more aggressive DC charging offerings in Brazil—especially from emerging players—has increased the pressure on global suppliers to innovate not just technically, but commercially.

Instead of simply reducing costs, Workersbee’s approach has been to rethink the structural design of its products, allowing for performance retention even with more efficient material usage. By improving the internal thermodynamics and refining terminal connections, we’re able to deliver solutions that balance engineering quality and market competitiveness.

Real Production, Real Readiness

During the tour, WEG engineers observed active production of GB/T-compliant DC cables on the floor. The presence of a working team during the visit demonstrated Workersbee’s operational readiness and transparency — something particularly valued in strategic partnerships.

The visitors were able to examine:

Inline quality checks on conductor alignment

Terminal welding under ultrasonic parameters

Cable jacket inspection for uniformity and sealing

Final assembly of charging connectors and protective shells

The plant tour made clear that Workersbee is not only equipped for R&D, but also for mass production with high process consistency.

Exploring Future Collaboration

WEG expressed positive feedback about Workersbee’s technical competencies and product engineering depth. While pricing competitiveness remains a key factor in their market strategy, it was clear from the exchange that technical reliability, manufacturing traceability, and product flexibility are also essential criteria.

At Workersbee, we strongly believe that the future of EV charging requires more than off-the-shelf products — it requires engineered solutions built around regional needs. Whether through co-development projects, specification customization, or localized product tuning, we are ready to support partners like WEG with both standard and tailored charging solutions.
